Site won’t release domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I transferred my domain from my wordpress site a few weeks ago to a different provider successfully, but yesterday I tried changing my domain to point to a different site and yet when I try to reach my new site with that URL it gives me an error that links to wordpress (‘Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. ‘). Do you know if I missed a setting somewhere in wordpress to let go of that domain? When I go to where it says in the error message it doesn’t list the domain.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy –

Are you working on barleysangelschicago.com? I am not able to load a site in my browser, but I do not see that error you’ve mentioned either.

I double checked from our side and everything looks like the transfer was successful with out any issues.

    The new registrar: Name Cheap
The new name servers are set to:
    dns1.registrar-servers.com
    dns2.registrar-servers.com

It might be worth checking with Name Cheap about those name servers to make sure they’re configured correctly. Whenever we make changes to the DNS records it can take up to 3 days for them to fully propagate and become active.

Hello! Yes, that’s the site. Thank you for clarifying. The error message linking back to WordPress is what was throwing me off. I’ll reach out to namecheap in the meantime. Thanks!

  • Noting if I check the site for redirects, I get this:

    X-Served-By: Namecheap URL Forward

Please be sure you’ve configured your domain to point to a host that expects your domain there. Cheers!
