Sitemap isn't being read by google
-
I have a domain mapped to my wordpress.com blog, but the sitemap seems to have some problems.
The first issue is that it showing on a secure page: https://idriveacademy.com.au/robots.txt, but comes up with a warning because the certificate is for *.wordpress.com.
The second issue is that it doesn’t seem to be mapping the pages in the site. I tried toggling the privacy settings, but this didn’t help.
When I test the site in google webmaster tools I get the error, “Unsupported file format”. Unfortunately it doesn’t provide any helpful information after that.
Any ideas on how I can resolve this issue? It’s left me quite confused.
Thanks!
Steve

Hi Steve,
The first issue is that it showing on a secure page: https://idriveacademy.com.au/robots.txt, but comes up with a warning because the certificate is for *.wordpress.com.
You’ll need to use the regular HTTP version of your site. For example, your robots.txt file is here: http://idriveacademy.com.au/robots.txt
WordPress.com isn’t able to support HTTPS for mapped domains. You can read more about that here: HTTPS
The second issue is that it doesn’t seem to be mapping the pages in the site. I tried toggling the privacy settings, but this didn’t help.
The robots.txt page isn’t actually where you sitemap is located. You can view your sitemap (including your site’s pages) here: http://idriveacademy.com.au/sitemap.xml
You can read more about how sitemaps work here: Sitemaps
If you have any other questions about that, please let me know!
