Sites inactive for extended period of time

    The following web addresses are taken but were never active. Some as far back as 2007. Any chance of them being deactivated and put back in the pool of names?

    Both these sites have place holder text and date back to 2007 and 2012 respectively.

    This site has one posting dating back to 2007.

    I know these are free sites be hosted on WordPress, but thought it would be worth asking.

    No. It won’t happen. At least not unless they run afoul of the TOS. Activity is not a requirement for WordPress.com sites. One might have an idea, start a website, and then abandon it for another idea, or put the first idea on hold indefinitely for whatever reason.

    You may attempt to engage the site owner of a site you are interested in acquiring, and ask them if they are willing to transfer ownership. From what I’ve seen in staff responses to similar questions. WordPress.com will not assist you in such attempts. However, I’m not WP.com staff and what I say is in no way representative of official policy. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar to call for staff attention.
