Sketch Theme: Add subscribe to homepage

I’m using the Sketch theme, Free plan. My homepage is set to a static page with the “Portfolio” template. Is there a way to add a subscribe block under the portfolio area?

    Thank you for your help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

It’s not possible to add your own content to a portfolio template page. A page set to the portfolio template only shows all portfolio projects published on a site. Essentially it turns that page into a dynamic page, like the default front page/post page, and archive pages, and does not display any static content.

But the subscribe block is just one way people can subscribe to your site. As soon as you have two or more posts published on the site (currently you have zero), a WordPress.com follow button will appear bottom-right that both logged-in and logged-out visitors can use to follow your site.

You can also add the blog subscription widget in your site’s sidebar:

Note that only blog posts can be followed. There is no way to subscribe to portfolio projects, and if you post a new project it will neither display in a follower’s Reader, nor will subscribers receive any email notifications for those. Only for blog posts.
