Slideshows
-
Hi all WP users !
So we’ve been blogging about our humanitarian trip to Senegal (for those who care) and inserting pictures to our articles. It works pretty good and the outcome is great.
Only, we can’t have too many pictures in an article, it’d ruin the writing and all. So for each article we choose a few out of all those we take every day. But we’d like our readers to be able to see all the others nonetheless, in a slideshow of our entire photo library, with no restriction. How do we do that ?We tried to create a slideshow, but the support page was of no help. It said to open the “Upload/Insert” menu and (step 2) to “Select files then click “Save all modifications”. Our files being already in our WP library, we clicked “Library”. And we realized we can’t “select files” – all we can do is insert them in article, use them as header picture, or delete them (those buttons or options appear at the bottom of the menu that rolls down when one clicks “Display”) – but there is no “select” button or checkbox or anything. And clicking the “Save all modifications” never takes us to the Gallery tab, as the support page says it should. What’s up with all that ?
Whatever solution that will enable random readers to check out our entire photo library will do – be it a slideshow on a page or anything else. Thanks in advance for helping !
Charles

The native WordPress slideshow is only created when you upload and insert the photos directly in the post or page where you want them to appear. When it says “Select files” it is referring to the files on your hard drive.
If you want to create a slideshow, you have other options to the native WordPress one, including flickr and slideshare. There are other options listed here http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/slideshow/
