Small font 'leave a comment' on Home Page

On my home page, ‘leave a comment’ (in small font size) replaces the shares, likes and reply box (which subsequently become visible when ‘leave a comment’ is clicked and then disappear when I revisit the page). This problem does not occur on my About page.

Hi there,
The “Share this” and “Like this” sections are currently set to appear on posts and pages on your blog, but they are not set to appear on the front page. This is why you don’t see them on your home page (front page).
You can change this under Settings > Sharing in your dashboard. Next to “Show buttons on,” click the box next to “Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results.” You can also read more about these sharing settings here: Sharing

I’m still having trouble enabaling comments on the home page (and *keeping* them enabled when I leave the page). Any thoughts about this at all?

The comment box itself isn’t visible on your blog’s home page. When you click on the “Leave a comment” link, that takes you to the single post, where the comment box is visible.
For example, when you click on “Leave a comment” at the bottom of the post “A view to die for?” on your blog’s home page, it sends you to this link: http://marcuscase.com/2013/08/02/a-view-to-die-for/#respond
The theme isn’t structured to display comments on the home page, only on single posts and pages.
That is built into the theme and isn’t a setting you can change for WordPress.com blogs. I hope this clarifies how the comments work. Let me know if you have questions about that. :) -
