So dammed confused!

    Hi, I’m so sorry! I have a Squarespace site but want to totally rebuild in WP.

    I have a domain name (currently registered with my SS site obviously) and I have paid to host my new site with Fasthosts.

    I’m currently exploring on my phone, which may be my problem – but I can’t tell if I have registered for a WordPress.com site or a WordPress.org site?

    I want to host it myself and I understand it shouldn’t cost anything?
    Please help clarify! Thank you xx

    Hi there!

    To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.

    We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.

    You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:

    That said, if you already paid to host your site with any company other than WordPress.com, your site is WordPress.org.
