Social Icon Homepage Issue
-
I have the “Profile” theme and I am trying to get the social icons (the round circle icons) to show up on my front page and they are not showing, but they are on all of my other pages. Can anyone help me figure this out? Thank you!

Hi Kate,
The social icons in the Profile theme are only displayed on static pages with the Home Page template. Because your front page displays your latest posts, the social icons won’t appear there.
However, you can set a static page as your front page and use the Home Page template if you want to create that look for your site. Please let me know if you have any questions about that!
You can also get more information about the Profile theme on the Profile support page, or get help directly from the theme author in the Profile support forum here:

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for the response! If I create a static page for my front page how can I get my past posts to filter through there? Would i have to copy them all on to the page? And, say I create a new post, is there a way for it to automatically populate on to a static page? Or do I have to manually/ intentionally write my posts in that static page? Please let me know!
Thank you,
Kaitlin

Hi Kaitlin,
Static pages are usually used for static content, rather than your blog posts. However, there is a shortcode you can use to display your posts on a static page: Display Posts Shortcode
Before you set that up, though, you may want to check out the Profile support forum. The Profile theme author is currently checking to see if the social icons can be displayed when you have your latest posts on the front page of your site:

In that case, you wouldn’t have to make any changes or use the shortcode above to make this work! :)
