somehow opened two WP accounts

  Will my other account be affected by canceling this one? I thought I was creating a general WP sign-in, not creating a completely separate account. There may be some shared/common info for name/email/website that I wouldn’t want to be blocked or anything by deleting this second account. Thank you.

  No it won’t. WordPress.com accounts are never interconnected.
