I need to restore my garrby.wpcomstaging.com, to its original settings, as somehow, I’ve managed to cross link it with a business site I was trying to set up, and can no longer access my blog, please can you help me get this sorted, as I have content and hyave almost finished a new episode of the podcast and am unable to access any of the admin features so I can continue posting.
Just tell me what I need to do so I can get this back to how I originally set it up with its own domain, web address and email
    many thanks
    Garry

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Unknown

  • Hello Garry,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

I can’t see this site connected to this WordPress.com account, so our support is limited here.

Can you tell me the URL that needs to be used instead of garrby.wpcomstaging.com? (Usually this is used as a temporary domain).

    I hope this helps.

the original URL was garrby.wordpress.com, but I also purchased the domain, http://www.surviving.abuse.co.uk, which I have never had a chance to use, so would appreciate it if someone could help me sort this mess I apparently got myself in by creating another site, that somehow has interfered with my longest running site the surviving the trauma of abuse site which has been active since 2020, whereas the new site that’s causing the problems is HelGar Digital, the surviving the trauma of abuse site should be on WordPress, I had upgraded it to business, but since the new site attempt I can’t access the original site
    Regards
    Garry

  • We have no record of surviving.abuse.co.uk ever being a registered or hosted domain through us, and it does not appear to be a registered domain elsewhere currently.

So, either it was never a registered domain, or it was registered elsewhere and expired. If it’s the latter, you’d need to contact your former domain registrar for recovery options.

For garrby.wpcomstaging.com, that site belongs to a different account here, not the one you’re currently logged in under.

If you do not recall the password for the correct account, we have some options for you at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/

  • I just thought of this literally seconds after replying, sorry.

The site https://garrby.wpcomstaging.com/ does have http://survivingabuse.co.uk as a mapped domain, a bit different from the domain recommended, but I’m sure this is what you’re referring to.

Once you’re logged in under the correct account, you can set that as the site’s primary domain: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address
