someone took my domain name.

I went to buy my the domain name (.com) today for my blog and it appears that someone has taken it :( Instead of fighting for the domain name next August (when GoDaddy says the subscription runs out, I’ve decided that I should probably just rename my blog, change the URL with wordpress and buy the domain name (.com). That being said, if I go this route, will all my posts/theme stay the same (or transfer over) when I change the URL? What about all the people who have subscribed by email? Will they have to re-subscribe? Does anyone have any other suggestions about what do to? I really don’t want to lose all my subscribers and readers and would love to have my current site forward to a new .com site if possible.

Changing the domain name literally only changes the domain name. Everything remains the same, but your blog basically has two URLs: the wordpress.com one and the whatever.com one. Both will work, so it’s fine and seamless for subscribers, etc.
