I backed up my site (www.johilder.com), then updated to a new version of WordPress (4.7), then attempted to upload/restore my backup via the importer, but it gives me this error message:
‘Sorry, there has been an error.
This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number’
I have tried everything, and I mean everything, including switching hosts, to try and restore my website, to no avail.
I cannot even work out how to manually restore the backup via ftp, and the host providers are no help as they say it’s a WordPress issue.
Please assist. Thanks.
