Spam Appearing In My Dashboard – How do I get rid of it?

There is a spam bar appearing in on the top of my dashboard staying “Congratulations, you win the prize! The chance to take our 5 second survey :) ” in a blue bar. How do I get ride of this? How did it get in?

It’s not spam. It’s from Staff and if you ignore it for several days then it will disappear.

IMO and it’s not a humble one, it’s cheap toss off that’s meaningless as it does not allow for any comments at all. I cannot believe that Staff would rely that data. Tell me it isn’t so.

It’s actually surprisingly affective. Comments from millions of folks would be a nightmare to go through, but we chart the average numerical rating from all responses and are able to very easily correlate any obvious decreases or increases to any changes that we make based on the dates.
For example, if we get rid of Feature A and introduce Feature B instead, and the average 5 Second Survey score drops dramatically over the next few days, we know that we should bring Feature A back and rethink Feature B.

How likely is it that you would recommend WordPress.com to your friends, family, or colleagues? (0: Not a chance, 10: Absolutely)I’m not prepared to assign a score from 1 – 10 with regard to recommending WordPress.com to everyone I know who wants to set up a blog. My family members, friends and colleagues do not all have the same requirements and same expectations from a blog, nor do they have the same skill sets or the same levels of willingness when it comes to learning new skills. Also some may be prepared to pay for additional features and others may not be prepared to do so.
There are many different blogging platforms and I have blogs on several. They all have different features and some of those features on other blogging platforms, may better suited to meet the requirements and expectations of my family members, friends and colleagues than WordPress.com is.
I value my relationships with family, friends and colleagues too highly to fob off a 5 second “one-size-fits-all” answer on the survey. My approach has been and will continue to be assessing the needs, expectations, skill sets, willingness to learn, and financial preparedness of each individual, and researching the features of all the different blogging platforms before I made a recommendation. And, those are the reasons why the construct of the 5 second survey produced a FAIL! from me.

That’s fine, it’s just an average. If someone asked, how likely would you be to recommend WordPress.com, from like “Goodness no, it’s terrible!” to “Yeah, I think they’ll enjoy it here.”
Of course, you don’t have to take the survey. Enough users do already, which provides us with a wealth of helpful data. If you ignore the notice, it will eventually go away.

Indeed, I have been ignoring it for years or it least like it’s been coming and going for years.
