Spam Comments

Every single day for the past few weeks, people from the same inappropriate sites comment on my blog. Half of them think they’re commenting on a porn site when it’s actually a Minecraft blog. I block each commenter, but they keep returning to my site with accounts linked to different Emails. I don’t feel comfortable with these people on my site, posting spam comments every day. Obviously they are all/mostly bots, and they don’t actually read my posts. Is there any way I can stop them from commenting on my site besides blocking the users (which doesn’t help)?

It is possible to set up a “blacklist” of words that will cause any new comment to be sent to the trash instead of posting on your site. More info here: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/discussion-settings/#disallowed-comments
In this case you can add words to that setting that you find in the spam commments (but do not find in legitimate comments) and that will effectively block any comment that contains that word or words.
