Spam – how do I get it to at least SLOW DOWN?

  Spam – I am getting well over 15 spam message a day!! How do I discourage this?

  15 is nothing. I’ve had months go by where I received 100+ per day with a peak of over 400.

  Close to 90% of all comments on the web are spam so it is something we all just have to live with unfortunately. As long as Akismet is catching them then that is the best you can hope for. If Akismet misses some, just mark them as spam and Akismet will learn.
