SPAM OR NOT? Do I need to pay £15

    I received an email about paying for my domain name (costs £15.00, and it is set to expire in 30 days, on April 24, 2019. If this upgrade expires, your site will no longer be available at). However, I have taken ‘over’ the oversight of this site and I did not know a payment was necessary or what it is for. Can you please give me some introductory information so that I can figure out what we need to do. I don’t ever remember us paying for anything before. What will happen if I don’t pay. I was concerned about clicking a link in case this was just SPAM. Hope you can help. Thanks. Helen

    Can you please give me some introductory information so that I can figure out what we need to do.

    You need to go to the Purchases page and renew your domain, as explained in that email.

    This is not spam, but a renewal reminder for the domain, christchurchnorrisgreen.org, that you have registered with us. You can see that domain both if you go to My Site ->Domains, and if you view the Purchases page at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

    You have not paid for this domain before because it was transferred to your account from another user on 3 August last year, after it had already been renewed by the original owner. But domains have to be renewed annually or they expire and are deactivated. So if you wish to continue using this domain, you’ll have to pay for its renewal.
