Spam User Account Creation

I’m new to word press but I have the option Anybody Can register option off but I’m getting span user accounts being created. Can you give me any tips on closing the security hole that seems to be causing my problem?

I’m not seeing any WordPress.com sites associated with the user account you are posting from. This frequently means that you have a site using the open-source WordPress software from WordPress.org, but hosted elsewhere.
