We are looking to build about 3000 pages. Will this slow the speed of the premium business membership site. If so is there an alternative?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello –

3000 pages is going to slow the speed of any site. Can you tell me more about the project? Perhaps there’s a better alternate structure we can suggest. Thanks.

Currently we are an online limousine Company. We work in cities worldwide providing transportation services. What we want to do is basically create a page for each individual city. Here is an example
    Lgvlimo.com/limo/LosAngeles
    Lgvlimo.com/chauffeur/LosAngels
    Lgvlimo.com/cities/LosAngeles
    Lgvlimo.com/airport/losangeles
    Lgvlimo.com/carservice/losangeles

    Lgvlimo.com/limo/miami
    Lgvlimo.com/chauffeur/miami
    Lgvlimo.com/cities/miami
    Lgvlimo.com/airport/miami
    Lgvlimo.com/carservice/miami

5 total of different descriptive services per city for every city in where we provide service.

Currently we have a wix site with about little over 100 pages and it’s slowing down a lot. We are also in process of building better authority of out domain.

  • It doesn’t matter who hosts your site… 3000 pages is going to slow it down, or break it. Not to mention, that a site menu is not designed to handle that amount of pages. It would cost you a ton of money to have enough hosting space to even do a bare minimum job of keeping you online.

Have you thought about using a contact form? Someone could reach out to you through the site, and then you can send them the details through email. You could just list the cities that you service and then have people reach out to you. This could be entirely automated too through the email provider that you use.

The other part of this which is really important is that the majority of folks will use a mobile device or tablet to access the internet. A complicated menu structure, or huge page count, is not going to work with smaller capacity devices.

The biggest reason we want as many pages is to in the future rank and have exposure for each individual key word. For example when people search lax limo, miami airport limo, paris limo service etc. We are on the second page for a key word “buenos aires limo” where for instance new york limo is much harder to get to the first page with such low domain authority.

Some of our competitors have a range between 13.000 pages to 48.000 pages outlining each city they operate in.

People can now book reservations online as well.

  • Hi there,

Although creating slugs for each keyword that you want to show up in search engines is one way to go about it, there are much better ways to optimize SEO for those keywords than creating a page for each of them. Particularly, what type of content were you going to add to each of those pages? Is it unique content that will be placed on each page that caters to that demographic and is filled with the keywords that you want people in those cities to search for?

We have some good resources on how to take advantage of SEO:

Optimize Your Site for Search Engines (SEO)

Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

Yes it would be unique content per page. Since for example in Phoenix people search for Phoenix limo, Phoenix Chauffeur, Sky Harbor Airport limo, or in Chicago, they look for O’Hare Airport Limo, Chicago Limo Service. So essentially each of those lgvlimo.com/chauffeur/chicago lgvlimo.com/limo/chicago lgvlimo/airport/chicago would cover different key word search one talking about chauffeur service one limos, Party Buses etc…

We host now on wix we are a startup 1 year in business however with 100 pages out website is crashing and it’s difficult to even edit and every 10 minutes the editor crashes.

Basically for instant can provide and work with affiliates in over 100 cities. Now how to we set up our website to target 5000 key words let’s say example Miami limo phoenix limo Atlanta limo and create landing pages for them. We want to make sure if someone is searching Atlanta Chauffeur Service the page is relevant to that search. That’s the issue we are facing is having relevant pages.

  • How were you going to set up navigation to support all of those pages?

Here is what I would suggest so that you would overload your site:

I would take the 10 to 15 most popular cities that you want to reach with your limo services and create landing pages for each of them that has unique, relevant, creative content with keywords that cater to each respective city. I would stray away duplicating content with any of these pages. I would create a menu tab such as cities we serve and have a sub menu for each of those pages. Then, I would have a landing page that lists all the cities you serve, maybe categorized by regions of the country they are in (or categorize them by state if you have that many cities you service).

But, it would be better to slowly and gradually build your site, creating quality unique content for each city’s landing page, than to just create a link to a page that may not have the best content to be found in search engines. Once you have the first 10-15 sites set up perfectly, then I would move to building pages for the next 10 most important cities, rinse and repeat. I believe you’ll get good results with this method, even in cities where you haven’t yet created a page for.

You will also be able to better gauge how much toll your site speed is receiving and can adjust accordingly. It would be much harder to gauge your site’s threshold if you pretty much add every page immediately.

WordPress.com may be a good place to set up your site, but going the self-hosted route via a host like Pressable may be a good idea as well.

Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

Thank You for all your answers. This helps a lot. We will work from what we can at this time with the budget we have and grow our site from there.

Having a professional setting this up for us instead of our self learning everything would be much easier and hopefully in the near future as we grow we will be able to.

We just spend great amount of time on the site in the past year and still see very little to poor results.
