Split: The blocks are horrible.
-
I hate the blocks too, and I think it’s unfair of WordPress to force this on people who don’t want it. I don’t know a single blogger who thinks these blocks are good, but I know a lot of bloggers who have given up and gone away again.
Wordpress is supposed to be really easy to use, and the blocks really are not, despite what all the block-lovers claim.
The blocks are horrible. The interface is confusing. Blogging is becoming difficult now. Why will WordPress not listen?
And please don’t ask me to give more detail as it takes far too long, and last time I looked, WordPress were not paying me to beta test their product. *I* am paying *them* to give me a product I can use. And if the classic block does go away completely, so will I. I do not have the time to learn how to use what is supposed to be easy and straightforward when clearly it isn’t.
Even the images, which you claim are easy, do not appear where you want them to. In Classic, you can type right next to an image. In block, it’s an image block and that’s that. The caption facility is not the same as positioning your image to the left or the right of the page and wrapping the text around it.
Each block looks different to the next. Formatting is a nightmare. I’ve been using the Classic block, but even that’s bouncing around all over the place now. I’ve been blogging for years, but I’ve never found it as difficult or time-consuming as it is becoming.
Honestly, it’s not very inclusive to force these blocks on users. More and more we need to be more tech-savvy to use it – or pay people who are, but yet who WP warns us against using and paying for.

Hi there @dianewordsworth I’m going to move your post to its own thread so we can address your issues without the people who are subscribed to this thread getting extra email. Thanks for your patience.

Hello again, Most people coming to our community forums aren’t here to praise how much they love working with blocks. :) I’m not going to try to convince you otherwise because it sounds like you have already made up your mind on this issue.
These are, however, support forums. If we can help you find your way with the Block Editor or the Classic Block so you can continue to post on your WordPress.com website, let us know.
I’ve also flagged this thread for Staff to note your feedback.
Cheers.

I know I am not alone and thank you Diane for taking time to say so!
I want to stay with the Classic Editor that was available before Blocks – which was two updates ago I think. It was quick easy and pleaure to use.
Now I blog less because having to go the long way round to find Classic puts me off posting.
Hopefully if enough of us voice our wishes WordPress will listen.
