splitting out multiple sites with different urls

    I need help figuring out how to split the existing site into multiple sites with different urls. I don’t want to change the pages that have already been created, just ‘sort’ them into 3 different sites. I do not know how to do this most efficiently – please help!

    Hi @jennileighmccormick, one option would be to put all of the posts into three different categories, then export one category at a time. If the site is with us, you’d go here:
    https://wordpress.com/export/

    Click the arrow to make a more specific selection, then just enter the category, export, use another category and export that, etc.

    If you’ll be hosting the new sites with us, you can use these tips for importing (even if the old site was here) : https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/

    For a site hosted elsewhere, export from wp-admin > Tools > Export.

    You’ll likely need an import plugin in each site to import the posts. You’ll also want to update each site’s theme.

    Also, I just want to add as well: whether the site is hosted here or elsewhere, you might want to consider possible SEO implications. If some pages or posts are well indexed, splitting them to some other site may not be ideal.
