Square Featured Images being cropped to rectangles on main page

  How can I fix this? I’ve double and triple checked that the images uploaded for the featured image for each post are SQUARE. But on my main site the featured images are being cropped into rectangles.

  I’ve also checked the media settings and made sure everything is set to square ratio.
