Squarespace

Hello, i setup a website on Squarespace, i’ve spent a month building it and now it’s basically a blog, with some embeded code from Power BI.
Because it has embeded code, i’ve had to pay for an expensive subscription. – i don’t want to do this forever, so i’m looking for alternatives, as all i need now, is to post blog posts and the code to refresh. – is this something i could swap to wordpress for?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

also – i pay for my own domain currently, which i’ve transferred to Squarespace.

  • Hi there,

We do not have an existing integration with Power BI, and the embed codes would not work here without first upgrading to our WordPress.com Business Plan. More info here.

If cost is an issue you may want to consider creating a self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc. These providers use the free open-source version of the WordPress software and you typically only have to pay hosting and domain registration renewal fees. That version of the platform is totally DIY and does not come with in-house support such as we have here on WordPress.com but by default your embeds would work with that version of the WordPress platform, no additional upgrade needed.

Our Business Plan is essentially this same unlocked version of WordPress but on our managed hosting infrastructure with built in security and support. This is why there is added cost to have the same functionality since we manage the technical aspects of keeping your site happy, healthy, and online with no issues.

If you are looking for a good web host for your self-hosted site, we recommend the following providers, who all offer easy-to-use wizards to help you get your first WordPress site set up and running:

That said, most major web hosting providers will work, so you can just ask if the one you are interested in supports WordPress. Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
