Squarespace to WordPress

    Hello,

I currently have a domain on Squarespace and I wanted to move everything over to wordpress and have my domain hosted here. I paid for the basic plan and domain mapping because I thought that would make my domain, 56perspectives.com, get hosted here. But wordpress didn’t ask for a transfer key for a squarespace domain and once I purchased the plan wordpress showed my site name as 56perspectivesdotcom.wordpress.com when I paid for domain mapping. I was extremely confused and asked for a refund but did not receive my domain mapping fee. I’m still trying to move out of squarespace and people seem to be using bluehost and then installing wordpress on there. Is that the proper protocol? Was the domain mapping option I used not the right one?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You can host your domain here, but you can’t move the domain registration over here. Hosting only refers to who provides the server space for your site, not to who provides your domain.

I have refunded the domain mapping portion of your plan, but domain mapping is the only to use a domain that’s already registered with a WordPress.com site. It’s not possible to transfer a domain registration to WordPress.com, which is why we don’t have anywhere that you can insert the transfer code.

Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)
