my site keeps coming up with a security alert. when others go on my site it says “your connection is not private”. My friend says its to do with an ssl but when i looked on your site it said that all wordpress account come with ssls. how come mine is doing this. and before today it has never done this.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

What is the exact URL that you type into your browser where you’re seeing that warning?

And is it a full page warning where your browser doesn’t even want to load the site, or is it in a bubble at the top of browser below the address bar, only after the page loads?

It’s the ohtay.home.blog link. I just brought the upgrade to the blogger account to try and fix it and so now the URL is ohtay.blog but I don’t think it’s fair that I had to buy that because my account wasn’t secure. Because as you guys say all WordPress sites (weather paid or not) come with ssl. But apparently mine did not because it comes up with the full page alert that you can not close and therefore cannot go on the blog

  • There was no need to buy an upgrade to fix anything, because nothing is broken here, and the SSL on your free site was working fine before.

But apparently mine did not because it comes up with the full page alert that you can not close and therefore cannot go on the blog

If you saw the full page alert, it means you typed the URL as https://www.ohtay.home.blog/, rather than just ohtay.home.blog.

https://www.ohtay.home.blog/ will always lead to that error page, and has to do with how https redirects on subdomains work. If you type only ohtay.home.blog, or even www.ohtay.home.blog, leaving off the https://, you won’t see that warning, as then we’d be able to properly redirect your domain to https.
