SSL error on subdomain
-
Hi we host scienceplanet.com here on wordpress.com but of course I can’t post any JS or other rich media. So I created apps.scienceplanet.com with an A record pointing to an external host. However, I get an SSL error when I try to browse that subdomain.
So… is it possible to purchase a cert that will cover our subdomain, including the content hosted externally?
Thanks,

Hey there! You would need to install the SSL certificate with the host of that site, rather than using something from us. I’d check in with them to see what options they can offer.
For now, you could make sure all of the links point to http:// rather than https:// when pointing to that site, so the error won’t appear. But it’s a good idea to get SSL too, if you can.
Let us know if you have questions!

One more thought, too: I don’t know what your host would charge for SSL+hosting.
But if the total for that plus your site with us is more than $180, you’d be welcome to upgrade to Pro here. That way you can add your scripts there. And we’re happy to answer any questions you have about that, too.
Cheers!

Ok thanks a bunch for the info supernovia. I think we are working this out with the host.
