Staging/Moving from Wix

  Hi, I’d like to move my business page from Wix to WordPress but before I do that I’d like to start building a staging site to start playing with different looks/features I’d add. How would I move my page over, and how do I start a staging site? I’ve heard of people doing this but never done it myself.
