    Hi there,

Sorry to hear this is happening again. I’m tagging this post so a staff member can review and fix it for you.

    Hope it gets resolved quickly!

  • Hi there, @insuranceagent617 👋

I’m sorry about the trouble—I know this is frustrating, especially since you dealt with the same thing recently.

I’ve checked on things from my end, and the good news is that the stuck staging site has been fully removed. You’re all set to create a new one whenever you’re ready from your Hosting Dashboard: How to Create a Staging Site

If this ever happens again, just reach out to us directly—this is something we take care of on our side, so you won’t need to troubleshoot it yourself.

Please let us know if anything else comes up!

Thanks for the reply, but it still stuck in “adding staging site”. I also dont have the option to delete a staging site.

I believe I know what is making this glitch occur: I was trying out a theme AssociationX Theme. I placed it in the staging site and kid you not, It said critical error on site. Instead of me going into safe mode and removing the theme like it was suggesting, I just deleted the satging site.

When I look back on it, I did exactly the same thing the last time this glitch occurred. It was the same theme I placed in the staging site and it went into critical error mode. And I deleted it instead of removing the theme and then deleting (or not).

The Association Theme def got something going on. I should have never placed this in the staging site. Lesson learned. lol

I am very confident that this is the reason why the staging site is abnormally “stuck in creation/deletion”.

Can someone please clear it? It it still there. I will be more careful the next time. Thanks.

  • Hey there,

I looked everywhere on your account but I cannot find any stuck staging site. It seems as everything cleared up properly.

Your theory about the critical error from the theme is interesting, but I do not think it really matters in this case. I am not a developer so I do not know for sure 100% but I am confident that deleting the staging site does not rely on potential site errors. It should have been deleted properly, and it seems that it eventually did since you last wrote.

Did you do anything to get it deleted or it simply need some more time?

I took this screenshot at 5:58pm ESt. It clearly still says “adding staging site”.

As previously explained, all I did was DELETE a staging site that had a critical error on it after a installed a theme.

    That is all I did.

If SOMEONE, anyone can please look into this because I have no option of clearing this on my end.

  • Hi there @insuranceagent617!

I tried to add a staging site from my end, and it worked, but the message at the top didn’t change, and I believe this may be a symptom of another issue. Could you tell us a bit more about your need to add/remove staging sites and what you are testing on them, please?

It is clear now- Praise the Universe! lol. So it looks like you creating a stage site for me on your end cleared it on my side. :-)

Like explained on the other forum topic, all I did was delete a staging site that had a “critical error” on it after trying a theme. I didnt go in to recovey mode to remove it as wordpress was suggesting. I instead deleted the staging envirnoment.

I dont want to say this is exactly the cause, but what I know for sure, is this is the exact thing I did before that got me stuck- Tried a theme, site crashed, deleted staging site to start a new on, then stuck in that loop.

I feel doing that caused this to happen b/c I have created a deleted a plethora of staging sites after the first glitch and that never happen – UNTIL I deleted it again while with a critical error on it.

All in all- I will be more careful next time. Thank you.

Glad to hear the staging site is back in working order, Melissa.

For future reference, here is what causes this: when a staging site hits a critical error (as happened with the AssociationX theme), deleting the staging environment in that state can leave the dashboard stuck in a creation/deletion loop. The system does not cleanly clear the staging record when the site is already in an error state.

If this happens again, the safer path is:

    1. When you see the critical error screen, choose the recovery mode option WordPress offers rather than deleting the staging site outright.
    2. From recovery mode, deactivate or remove the theme that caused the error via Appearance → Themes.
    3. Once the staging site is stable again, you can delete it normally from the Settings tab after switching to the staging site via the Production dropdown.

That said, if you do end up stuck again despite following those steps, reach out and we can clear it from our end.
