started webpage without wanting to

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I just wanted to get to know how Word Press worked, but instead it set my webpage up. Now my webpage I currently have with Clover is not working. How can I cancel everything I did with you so that I can keep my other website for now? We want to switch to you, but as we are a presbyterian church, we have to have approval from our session to make decisions like this. Plus, Lent is coming and we need our website up so people have the information they need! So how do I cancel everything? And then, when I want to start with you, how can I move my content from my current website/Clover over to my new webpage with you?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

https://northmontchurchorg.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.

    Are you referring to http://northmontchurch.org/?

Are you asking how to get a refund from WordPress.COM for an upgrade here and how to cancel it?

Read: Deleting a site with upgrades https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/#deleting%C2%A0a-site-with-upgrades

    re: Refunds
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 7 – 10 business days for the refund to be received.

    re: Canceling upgrades
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account

  • HI there,

You don’t have any site with us. You had a free site, northmontchurchorg.wordpress.com, but you have since deleted that. There is no way at all that site could have interfered with a site you have at another domain and at a different hosting provider.

The site at http://northmontchurch.org/ has nothing to do with WordPress.com, and it’s working fine for me.

To see how WordPress.com works, you can look at this tutorial:

    Homepage

And you can set up a new free site without affecting your existing site in any way so you can try out the features covered in the tutorial. You can use this link to create a new free site, though you won’t be able to use the address you had deleted again.

Thank you kokkieh. I did figure that out after a while LOL I had no idea what I was doing.

I WILL want to transfer from Clover to Word Press. What is the best way to do that? Would we be able to keep northmontchurch.org? Or would it have to be northmontchurchorg.wordpress.com? We currently pay GoDaddy for our domain name, so I don’t know how that works. I’m new to all of this. Also, how will I need to make our new WordPress website go live? And is it possible to have the Clover website not live, but still visible to me for editing/moving over content?

  • Clover is a completely different web building software from WordPress, so migrating your content might pose some problems. If Clover offers a .xml export file of your site content, you should be able to import it here, but if not you’ll need to migrate your content manually. See:

    Import

Moving your domain to us won’t be a problem, though. We don’t accept domain transfers, but you can keep your domain with GoDaddy and connect it to us using the domain mapping upgrade. First, you’ll need to create a new free site, and then add one of our paid plans to it via My Site ->Plans. Then you can connect the domain by following the steps here:

Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)

Note that you’ll have both a free address and the custom domain. All WordPress.com sites have a free address, but that is hidden if you add your own domain.

Also, how will I need to make our new WordPress website go live?

Strictly speaking, the moment you create a free address with us, the site is live on the web. You can set it to private while you work on it so only you can see it, and it will only be accessible at the free domain until you switch the custom domain over to us.

And is it possible to have the Clover website not live, but still visible to me for editing/moving over content?

This you’ll need to ask Clover. If they require a domain to be connected to the site for you to access it, you can keep the WordPress.com site on the free address until you’ve moved everything over, and only switch the domain when you’re completely done. Your WordPress.com site doesn’t need a custom domain to function – that’s why we provide the free address.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Is there a way to pay for a subscription without using a credit card? Our church doesn’t have one, and we need to have an invoice. How would I go about doing that? I can’t find a phone number anywhere to call anyone at wordpress

  • The only payment options we have available are debit or credit card, or directly via PayPal. We do not issue invoices in lieu of payment, but you will get a detailed receipt to which you can also add your organisation details once you’ve purchased an upgrade.

We do not have any phone support. Free users are supported via the forums, while our plans give you access to live chat and email support.
