Starting a blog

I’d like to start a blog. I started registration and it identified a domain name for me. And I’m getting ready to pay for the domain name. Is that all I need for a blog or will there be an additional monthly fee for a blog?

There are no monthly payment plans at WordPress.com. If you want a custom domain then that is free for the first year and included with whichever upgraded plan, purchased annually in advance, that you choose.
