Starting a blog

    This would be my first blog, and my first time building a website. I own a domain but I’m not sure if I should transfer it to wordpress or map it. What shall I do? What would be cheaper? As this is my first website I don’t want to waste money as I’m not sure how this is gonna turn out. Please give me some advice! :o

    Welcome :) No worries. We are happy to help. Getting started can be overwhelming.

    Your domain is going to be included with your plan. It won’t matter if you map or transfer the domain to us from a cost stand point.

    If you transfer the domain to us then WordPress.com becomes your domain registrar as well, and everything related to your blog would be in one place. That’s the biggest advantage for transferring.

    With mapping, your domain stays at the current registrar and they just make some back end changes that point the domain to WordPress.com. With this, you’d need to renew your plan with us each year, and your domain registration with the domain provider as well.

    Domains can’t be transferred until they are 60 days old. This is an ICANN regulation.
