starting my blog

My blog is vortexperformancesports. I try to start a blog after having logged in with the correct details and when trying to choose/activate a theme it doesnt promt me to use this name and when i press start blog and enter vortexperformancesports, it tells me that this blog already exists…of course it does its mine, duh !!!! however i have never started a blog name with this. I own vortexperformancesports.com domain as well, but that is no longer active, although i still own the domain name which i will map/transfer to WP after. However back to the original question, why cannot i start my blog with my vortexperformancesports name??? Help? -

Well, no, it isn’t. There’s no www in your URL. It is http://vortexperformancesports.wordpress.com/ or was until you or someone else deleted it. It is deleted. Pick another name; names are not recycled here, and if you’re going to add a custom domain to it anyway, the underlying whatever.wordpress.com URL doesn’t matter anyway.

You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
