Starting my lifestyle blog on your forum

  • Unknown's avatar

I’d like to base my lifestyle blog on your forum. I’m unsure if I’m in the right place, e.g. wordpress.com or wordpress.org, and which membership I should invest in with you.

I did start to have a hosting service create a personal URL for me to use although it is not active as of yet – is it still necessary?

The reason I’m reaching out is because I wouldn’t like to be against your T’s & C’s and have my account deleted.

I would like to be able to make money with my account. I am aware that a way of doing that is with the use of sponsored posts and affiliate marketing. Maybe even hosted AD’s.

Perhaps I’d like to make my account available to those to who subscribe to it. Can and how do I do that?

What is my best option regarding these factors?

The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff)/. It is not hosted by WordPress.com or connected with Jetpack. This site is not linked to my WordPress.com account.

  • Hi there!

The difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is that we are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.

You can find more details about it here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/.

That said, if you decide to create your site here, you’ll probably want to purchase plan Premium. That would give you more options to personalize your site and also monetize it:

The reason I’m reaching out is because I wouldn’t like to be against your T’s & C’s and have my account deleted.

I understand that you’re concerned about sponsored posts and affiliate links? You do not have to worry about these as long as the primary purpose of your blog is to create original content and as long as the code for the ad is supported.

Perhaps I’d like to make my account available to those to who subscribe to it. Can and how do I do that?

If you’re thinking about premium content for paid subscribers, have a look at this page:

Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.
