Statistics and records of website views/readers

    We have had this issue in the past, wherein not all viewers or readers to the blog are being recorded. This resolved, however has re-occurred. The blog listed above belongs to a client of mine, who has showed me that the Statistics tab is not always accurate and often, the amount of people viewing the blog or accessing different posts is not recorded.

    For example, currently he only has records of 2-4 people visiting his blog. These viewers are all via Facebook. None are from a search engine or via WordPress, which is what was previously being recorded. In the past 3 weeks, records have gone from 30-60 views a day, all from Facebook, WordPress, and search engines, to maximum 4 views from Facebook. This is also noted with previously loyal viewers – such as one repeat viewer of over a year, who regularly views a certain page, who is now not seen on the views tab at all.

    I have tested this with him and often my views to the blog are not recorded. As in my entering different posts or viewing different parts of the blog is not recorded on the Statistics tab.

    I did not see the URL of the blog you were mentioning. Can you clarify the address of the site? https://aallanbiss.wordpress.com/ is the only site I see under your account, and it seems to be a test site that is not in use currently.

    Hi there,

    I don’t see anything abnormal in that site’s stats, and such fluctuations are normal.

    As for views from specific people not being recorded, this can be due to various reasons. For example, your views are not recorded if you’re logged in as an administrator on the site. The same happens if you’re using the WordPress.com Reader to read the posts.

    Hi fstat,

    Thank you. I am glad the fluctuations are normal. Could you please give some more examples of why people’s views may not be recorded? That is what my client is asking; the reason that certain people may not be recorded as views on the blog. Thanks.
