Stats

Can you search for stats in specified batches? For example, I’m with a sports website that covers almost every kind of sport. Can I search stats and have them separated by hits for MLB only? Or within MLB is there a way to see how many hits for a specific team, or how many articles written about each team?

  • Hi there,

What is the URL of the site you need help with?

I’m guessing this would depend on how those stats are being added to the site. Are you adding them manually, are they being embedded from a remote source or are they being pulled directly into the database from a third-party API?

If this is for https://www.overtimeheroics.net/, note that that isn’t a WordPress.com site, but a site using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We’re only able to help with sites hosted on our servers at WordPress.com.

In that case, please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using on that site:

    Thanks for the reply.

Wow, I’m a rookie at this stuff, lol. The site is overtimeheroics.net. I am in charge of the MLB writers, so I need to be able to tally articles and hits for the sake of quality control/payroll. We cover about every sport unde the sun, so I’d also like to be able to quickly see that (for example) the MLB division at overtime has 17 articles totaling 10,000 hits, while the NFL Division only has 10 articles and 5,000 hits. That sort of thing.

We have some stats available. I can see individual writer production/hits based on days, months, years, etc., but I can’t seem to figure out how to sort and gather group stats by keywords, such as MLB or baseball.

  • Okay, so you’re speaking about the actual views of posts on the site :)

In that case, what you see at My Site ->Stats is what there is in terms of the stats that the Jetpack plugin collects for your site.

Jetpack stats doesn’t offer any ability to filter the data in the way that you describe, so you’d need a different analytics service for your site that provides more in-depth data with customizable filters. Google Analytics might be able to do what you want, or you might need a different stats plugin. The WordPress.org forums I linked to above is the best place to ask for suggestions in that regard, though.
