stats page not working; can't embed links on posts anymore

    Hi there,
    Since the new upgrades I’ve been having trouble with WP. The stats page doesn’t work for me, I try to click on the links on the page and nothing happens. It’s as though the page is completely static.

    Also now when I try to embed links in my posts, they disappear.

    Trying not to be frustrated but finding that WP upgrades often result in problems where there weren’t any before –

    I’m using an old MacBook with OS X, Vsn. 10.5.9, and Firefox 15.0.1

    Hi there!

    Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to help you with this very much. You’re running outdated software that we no longer support.

    You’ll likely still be able to use the stats page in your dashboard here:

    And as for the embed issue, are these embeds gone from just the editor? Or if you publish the missing embeds do they appear on the post itself? It sounds like your browser is no longer able to support these embeds, but I’m happy to take a closer look if you’ll give me a link to something you’re trying to embed.

    Hi there Shawna,
    Thanks, that old stats page link works for me. Regarding the embed, the function is still present on the editor but when I actually go to use it (ie. highlight the text, insert the link, hit enter) it doesn’t appear on the draft nor on the published post. I’ve tried to insert various links from different sites so don’t think the links themselves are a problem, but regardless here is one I tried to do on my last post: http://dw-wp.com/

    The site you linked to is not a WordPress.com site, so I can’t tell what’s happening there. Maybe a plugin you use for embeds is not up to date? If you have someone that helps you run the site, I would contact them about this.

    If not, you can post over in the WordPress.org forums. I have a hunch that this is related to how old your browser is (Firefox is currently on version 35), but if it isn’t being caused by that someone over there may be able to help:

    Hi Shawna, thanks again for your help.. I’m still having trouble embedding links. It could be related to age of browser as you suggest but I can’t update Firefox without upgrading my computer which I am hoping to avoid. I guess I’ll just have to post in the full links for now. It would be great if WP kept some of its old functionality active though (i.e. like the old posting page). Although it’s great that WP keeps evolving, it at times makes things more challenging for some of us old school types. Anyway, all for now and thanks again.

    Like I mentioned, you may want to take a look at the plugins you’re using for your embeds. I’m not super familiar with the various embed plugins available for WordPress, but it might be as simple as changing or updating the plugin you’re using!
