Sticky post option only available for "Public" visiblity option
-
I desire to have a post remain on home page yet, my blog is only for certain readers, and that option is not available (sticky post) for private or password protected visibility – please help.

Your blog is already private, so there’s no need to password protect your posts as well.

Sorry, you didn’t read my inquiry clearly: I asked how do you designate a post as STICKY, when that option (to keep post at top of blog) IS NOT available for private postings. Appreciate your prompt replies. Thank you.

Since your blog itself is already private, there’s no need to password protect (or make private) your individual posts. So, you can set your post visibility to public, and use the sticky feature.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/
Since your blog is already set to private under Settings -> Privacy, these posts won’t be visible to anyone that you haven’t granted blog access to.
It’s not really possible to make a post sticky, if you set the post itself to private or password protect it. But if you only wish to ensure that the post can only be seen by your users, then it’s sufficient to set your posts to be public, and keep the blog itself private.
Feel free to drop us a line if we can be of any further assistance.
