Sticky Posts

Why won’t the sticky feature work on some posts? A couple of times, including today’s post I tried to invoke the sticky so that a featured image would appear mainstage on my blog, but for some reason it would not show in the main feature bar.
This has happened once before, but for the most part works perfectly, so I can’t figure out if I’m doing something wrong, there’s an issue with the post or what.
I’m using the free Oxygen theme and would appreciate any help you can provide.

Do you have a sticky post that is not displaying now?
If so, would you please tell me the title so I can take a look?

I have a featured image selected and the sticky button checked. Since it is now sticky it doesn’t show up under Recent Articles, only toward the bottom of my page under Recent Posts.

Ah, I think I see the problem here:
Post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide, unless you make the post Sticky to show off in the featured slider, in which case they’re 750 pixels wide. Keep in mind: if you mark a post as Sticky but the featured image is less than 750 pixels wide, then it won’t display in the slider and will still disappear from the river of posts.

In this case, the selected featured image is only 598 pixels wide.

That seems perfectly logical! Vertical images have not been displaying in the feature bar, whereas I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem when I’ve used a horizontally oriented image.
In fact I just tried it and yes, that seemed to be the trick.
