strange 404 errors after migrating site to wordpress

  • Unknown's avatar

Since migrating my website to wordpress, I set up a plugin to monitor 404 errors and create redirects. Most of these have been straight forward, however every day I am getting more strange 404 errors. Usually ending in txt, jpg, css or php. I don’t know where to redirect these to, or whether they are files missing from my new website. When I migrated it, I didn’t just transfer files, I created each page again from scratch.
Here are some examples of the 404 errors I am receiving.
    /wp-includes/Text/Diff/Engine/theme.php
    /dhon.php
    /admin/images/cal_date_over.gif
    /wp-content/cache/et/2570/et-core-unified-15622453024447.min.css
    /site/ukitcareers/images/basic_theme/logo.png
    /magento_version
    /util/login.aspx
Please could someone advise on what I need to do about these?
    Many thanks,
    Olivia

Hi there, you haven’t shared the full URL of the site you need help with, but it sounds like you need help with a site using the open source WordPress software.

For help with a site using the open source WordPress software, you’ll want to head over to https://wordpress.org/support where they have more experience with the software you are using. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on the top of that page.

Just to clarify, this support forum assists users of the WordPressdotcom platform. WordPressdotcom (where we are ) and WordPress are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. More information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    Best wishes

OK-that was strange. The site URL wasn’t there before I answered. Regardless, you’ll want to seek help with the folks at WordPress.org. Cheers.
