I was trying various free themes. After trying Stratford its homepage data has displaced mine and I cannot remove it. When I switch back to the theme I originally had Stratford kids are all over my home page. How do I revert back?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I should add that I CAN edit my home page that is now Stratford kids and formatting, but my original home page has vanished.

    Hi there!

Is this the page you previously had? https://amanonahill2021.wordpress.com/?page_id=5&preview=true

When you activate a theme and replace the homepage content with the theme demo, the current homepage is reverted to a draft. You can follow these steps to republish the homepage and set it as the homepage of your site again:

    1. Click My Site → Pages → Drafts → Home.
    2. Publish the Page. (You may also consider giving this page a slightly different title, like Homepage instead of Home so that both pages don’t have the same exact name.)
    3. Click My Site → Appearance → Customize → Homepage Settings → choose the page you published from Drafts under the “Homepage” drop-down menu.
    4. Click Save Changes at the top.

The last two steps can also be found on this page: https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/

Once that’s done, your previous homepage will start showing up on the homepage of your site. You can then delete the homepage that was created by the theme when you activated it.

If you’d like to change the theme again, please consider checking out this page for more information on changing themes: https://wordpress.com/support/changing-themes/

    Hope that helps!

Thanks aisijib for finding my missing homepage. I’ve been trying to proceed intuitively with the creation of this blog, but occasionally encounter issues I cannot fathom. There are so many layers to WordPress that it gets overwhelming at times.

Let me just add that I experimented with all of the themes that fall under the Subject=Blog, activating each one to see how it looked. The process was:
    1) Under Appearance>Themes click on a theme info.
    2) Click on Activate this design.
    3) Click on Customize this site.
    4) Close the customizer to return to My Site.
    5) See how it looks.

I think you are mistaken when you say above, “When you activate a theme and replace the homepage content with the theme demo, the current homepage is reverted to a draft”. None of the other themes seemed to create a new homepage, overwriting their stock info over mine. It was only Stratford that did this, although, thinking back, there may have been one other that also did this just before I activated Stratford. Your front-page link above makes this clear with “My Homepage Disappeared,” in that many others have run into this very same problem.

I’m guessing this was because I hadn’t actually “published” my homepage (it’s possible this was still a “draft”). But this is somewhat confusing. Because when I go to My Site>My Home, in the right hand column beneath “Site setup” there was/is a green check mark beside “Update your homepage” and it is labeled as “complete”. I did this early on in the setup and assumed I was finished with it. Maybe that is something you should look into, to change how this appears.
