Sub domains
-
First, I have a domain at Go Daddy but want to consider using Word Press. How do I take a test drive without transferring the domain.
Second, I would like to set up sub domains for multiple clients with each sub domain only visible to that specific client. So, they would visit my site and have to enter a password which would take them to their sub domain. Is that possible?

Hi there,
When you create a site with us we provide you with a free WordPress.com address, and you can do most things except set up email or install custom themes and plugins without a custom domain.
Should you want to install plugins on our Business Plan you can do that using a subdomain on your existing domain instead, though.
For your second question, you’d likely be able to do something like that using a landing pages plugin, in combination with a membership plugin. It really depends on what you want at each subdomain – if only a simple landing page with information for that client, a landing page plugin should work. But if you want a full website at each subdomain, like a demo website for work you’re doing, you’d likely need a completely separate site with its own upgrade plan.
