  can I create a subdomain for a free plan or do I need to have a paid plan

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  @toddhaus1 technically all free sites get a .wordpress.com subdomain. But if you want to use a custom subdomain, you will need a plan with a domain credit. The personal plan would work well.
