subdomain change
-
Hello! my site used to be called rutheliadreams.wordpress.com. However, after several years, I decided to change this to a name that encapsulates what my blog is about. I went for discoveringmydrishti.wordpress.com. I was then hoping to create a new blog with the old domain, to redirect people to my new one. However, the subdomain ‘rutheliadreams’ is still unavailable. I wasn’t sure how to create a new blog to export and import all my posts – which is why I changed the domain. Please can you advise when the subdomain will become available? The main reason I don’t have a self hosted domain was due to being apprehensive about ‘rutheliadreams’ but now I have chosen a more fitting name, it is something I will consider providing I am able to redirect from my old site.
Thank you for your help.

Hi there,
When you change a free WordPress.com address, the old address is deleted, and does not become available again for anyone to use, including the original owner. This was mentioned on the confirmation screen you were shown when making the address change.
Luckily as you did this only yesterday I’m still able to restore the old address to your account, so you can continue using it now. The site at that address is now completely empty, essentially a brand new site.
