Subsciptions pending error message

Every time a visitor attempts to subscribe to my blog, they receive this error message:

You already have several pending email subscriptions.
Approve or delete a few subscriptions at subscribe.wordpress.com before continuing.

This is happening every time somebody attempts to subscribe, irrespective of whether they have any other subscriptions pending. I have tested it by trying email addresses of my own which have never been used to subscribe to anything. Can you suggest any way of correcting this error? The last time anybody successfully subscribed to my site was over two months ago, so I suspect the problem has been there for several weeks now.

    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • What is the last email address you tried?

If you place it in your reply as a normal email address, it will only be visible to staff.

Last address I tried was (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  • That email address has 2 pending site subscriptions, 1 pending comment subscription, and no active subscriptions.

    You’ll need to:

    1. Log out of WordPress.com at https://wordpress.com/me (this is crucial)

    2. Visit https://subscribe.wordpress.com and as long as you’re logged out, you’ll see an option to enter your email address and receive a link to manage your subscriptions.

    3. While still logged out, click that link that was sent to your email, go to the Pending section, and either confirm or delete those subscriptions.

Thanks, have done as you suggest and it has indeed solved the problem. Evidently I had subscribed to several blogs long ago and forgot about it. I dare say that means that the failed subscriptions I’ve noticed (on Google Analytics) are just for users in the same position as me. Many thanks for your help.
