Subscribe by RSS Message Widget
-
Hi WordPress Support Team,
I would like to find the widget that shows up if you’ve only just started coming to my site, showing a little message at the top of my post that says something like:
Hi! If you’re new here & want regular
messages from us, you may like to subscribe by RSS
or get my posts by email. Thank you!
It’s a simple little reminder for people to subscribe by RSS, and it
only appears for the first five visits.
Where can I find that?
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
LauraThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Laura,
There is not a widget at WordPress.com that can display a message just to new visitors to your site. I see that you’re already using the Follow Blog Widget, which encourages all visitors to subscribe to your blog.
You can also use the Blog Subscription Shortcode to add a subscription form to any post or page on your site.

Hi Rachel,
Thanks so much for your prompt response.
How can I insert the Blog Subscription Shortcode to any post or page in my site?
I’d like to add it to all my pages and future posts, please let me know.
Thanks,
Laura -
Hi Laura,
You can read about the Blog Subscription Shortcode here: Blog Subscription Shortcode
The shortcode itself looks like this:
[blog_subscription_form]You can paste that shortcode onto the posts or pages on your site (in the post or page editor) and it will create the subscription form when you publish the post or page.

Hi Rachel,
Thanks once again.
Last question: Is there any way to change the format on this code to have a different font, size, color, cursive?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Laura -
Hi Laura,
You can make the text in the form bold or italicized by making the shortcode bold or italicized in your post editor. However, the formatting is mainly controlled by your blog’s theme. To make additional customizations, you can use the Custom Design upgrade.
