Subscriber notification

  I am needing to add some old posts from a different platform and don’t want my subscribers to get an e-mail notification of this new post (that is really from the past). Is is possible to turn this notification off temporarily and then turn it back on once I have added the old posts without loosing my subscribers? Thanks

  Hi @bevrichard, are you importing the posts or just copying and pasting them? I believe we’ve turned off new post notifications for imports.

  If you are copying and pasting instead, you could create another temporary site, add all of the posts there (as no one is following it), then export and import that into the real site. You might try it with one post first so you can see if that will work well for you.

  Thanks, I am cutting and pasting. I did not know there was an import option. Can you point me in that direction please.

  The old posts are on a service provided by my cable TV provider who is turning that service down in a few months. Am I able to import from another site or does it have to be a WordPress site?

  So, you can import from some other sites, but we only have automated importers for certain programs. If you’d like to link us to the site I could take a look and let you know your options.

  If you’re stuck with copying and pasting, though, I would go ahead and copy and paste into a new, temporary site (you can start one here: https://wordpress.com/start/ ). Then the import and export options are under My Site > Settings … you’ll see tabs for imports and exports there. Just be sure you have the correct site selected, using “Switch Site” if needed.
