Subscribers’ email subject

Hi there. Is there a way to change the subject in the emails notifications the subscribers of my blog receive? I’m using a Subscription button, so that once someone subscribes they will receive a new email for each new post, and this is working fine. What I don’t like is the email subject, which at present reads as ‘[new post]’ and then a number. Is there a way to change that?
    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

This is for annaraywriter.wordpress.com yes? Is it the case that you published your blog post, realized that you forgot the title, then returned the to post to edit it and add the title?

To explain, the permalink structure of your URL is taken from the words in the post title. But if you forget to add a title we use the post ID, which is 215 in this case.

You can edit the post again, and look for the Permalink setting on the right. You can change that from 215 to whatever words you wish, as long as you use dashes instead of spaces, like writing-a-script-is-a-terrifying-thrill for example.

But as long as you add your title before you publish, the URL will have words automatically.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi! Ah, that makes sense now! Yep, that’s exactly what happened, I didn’t realise it would have affected the email subject. Thank you so much for explaining and solving the issue :)
