Subscription emails not being sent

  • Unknown's avatar

I am a free WordPress user running my blog. Off late, I have noticed that there are no emails being sent to my subscribers even though all settings are in place. I cross checked with every setting possible (even though I did not change any in the first place). Can anyone at WordPress check if they have a bug?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out, and I understand how concerning it is when subscriber emails stop going out.

If your subscriber should have received an email but reports that they didn’t, you can check to make sure they are, in fact, subscribed to your posts. To check if someone is on your subscriber list:

    1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
    2. On the left side, navigate to Jetpack → Subscribers.
    3. Search for their email address in the list of subscribers.

Confirm their “Email subscription” status shows “Subscribed.” If it shows “Pending,” the subscriber hasn’t confirmed their subscription yet.

Let me know if you still need assistance and I’m happy to help you out:)

I have already checked all of these and everything seems fine and in order. Also, for test, my email is also in the subscribers list to check that everyone receives it everyday. But, I have received feedback that no one does. In fact, the data in the stats also shows that none of the emails are sent out. I can’t seem to understand what seems to be the issue.

    Ok, I got you:)

In that case, it could be for one of the following reasons:

    • Your subscriber made a mistake, such as checking the wrong email address or filtering the email as spam.
    • Your subscriber adjusted their subscription to receive daily or weekly digests, instead of receiving separate emails for each new post.
    • Your subscriber was not subscribed at the time the email was sent.
    • You published a different content type, such as a page or a custom post type. Only posts generate emails to subscribers.
    • You updated or re-published a post that was previously published. This will not send an email to your subscribers.
    • If your site is set to private, your subscribers will not receive any email notifications of your posts.

    Hey there,

I don’t know if you have read what I have mentioned. I don’t even know if you are support team replying. Grateful for the assistance, but I must point this out. I have only put this query after following all the troubleshooting steps. I am well equipped to handle all technical tasks having technical know how.

    1. The blog is public
    2. Subscribers haven’t made any changes to their preference neither have I made changes to any settings. In fact, as I mentioned before, I have also subscribed to my blog via another email ID belonging to me, to be aware of how the emails go out to others.
    3. I don’t update old posts. Each post written is a new one. And I specifically have been checking the Post & Email option.

What I am trying to communicate is some issue at WordPress. I know, free bloggers like me don’t get support, but I do believe it should be looked at.

  • Hi @logosphoros,

Thank you for your patience while we looked into this.

I’ve done some investigating and sent you a detailed email with my findings. Could you please check your inbox (and spam/junk folder, just in case) for that message?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi there,

Thank you for the email. I received that email. The email id which you have mentioned as skipped “1 subscriber was skipped” belongs to me and I did not close any accounts with WordPress since I did not make an account with that email ID, or maybe if I did in the past, I may not be aware of it at present. I did consult those who receive the emails since some are my own friends who have subscribed and they too have not been able to receive it. The last count I had seen was 7 subscribers (obviously not a big number, I anyway share the link elsewhere) so I wonder why the discrepancy in numbers. I was contemplating going paid but now this makes me review that decision.

  • Hi there,

Would you mind replying to the email? Our responses require conversations about internal account data and it is our policy to not have such discussions in public venues.
