Subscription form
-
I’m having a problem with people subscribing to my blog. I was using the jetpack subscription form but for some reason some people weren’t receiving the email to confirm their email address. It wasn’t going in to their spam either. They try to subscribe again but it tells them they’re already subscribed. I don’t receive the email either telling me they’ve subscribed, nor do they come up on my site stats. Where they do come up though is on the ‘number of people subscribed’ on the subscription widget but I can’t see who these people are. I’ve now taken off the jetpack subscription form and installed the WP one but I only did that today so can’t tell if this will work properly yet or not. Has anyone had this problem? TIA

I’m now using the WP subscription form widget but, even though I’m getting the email telling me someone has subscribed they’re not appearing in the site statistics page

Subscribers no longer get listed on the stats page. Instead, go to My Sites ->Manage ->People here on WordPress.com. I see 30 confirmed email followers for your site there.
If a specific follower has let you know they aren’t receiving emails from your site, either the confirmation email, or emails for new posts, please let us know their email address and we can take a look. Type the email on its own line, and it will be hidden automatically so only staff can see it.

I have a few people that have subscribed that aren’t appearing on the People page you say. Here are 5 of them:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)The 1st and 4th subscribed through the jetpack subscription widget, the others, through the WP one.
I’m hoping that’s what you mean by typing their email on it’s own line
The 1st and 4th definitely didn’t receive the email for new posts, the others signed up yesterday after I’d published the post so I can’t tell yet but think they should be on the People page in My Site already.
The ones that have subscribed through the WP subscription widget don’t receive any confirmation email but I’m presuming that’s normal. I do receive an email saying they’ve subscribed but still they don’t appear on the People page. Thanks

Here’s another email address that has subscribed but doesn’t appear on the People page:

For numbers 1 and 4 I can see pending subscriptions for your site. We sent them both emails on 25 May, but they haven’t clicked the links in those emails yet. Our logs show their email providers accepted the emails, i.e. the emails didn’t bounce, but they might be sitting in the spam folder or some other filter.
For the other three I don’t see any subscriptions, and we haven’t sent them any confirmation emails. Did they tell you they subscribed? Or how do you know they signed up yesterday?
I’m hoping that’s what you mean by typing their email on it’s own line
That’s exactly what I meant :)

What exactly do you mean by “WP subscription widget”? Are you speaking of the “Subscribe to blog via email” widget you have at the top that asks for a name, surname and email?
That’s not a subscription widget at all. That’s a contact form added through the Contact Form 7 plugin. A contact form is a way for visitors to your site to send you a private message, but it has nothing to do with subscriptions, and we/Jetpack have no access to any information anyone submits to you via that form.
The only ways someone can sign up for email notifications to your site from us are via the Jetpack blog subscription widget, if they have a WordPress.com account, via the WordPress.com Reader, or if you send them a follower invitation at Manage ->People ->Add.

Gosh, I’d better re-install the jetpack widget then and get in touch with them to subscribe again, I hadn’t realised it wasn’t for subscriptions. As you can tell, I’m rather new to this :) The reason I thought they’d subscribed was because I received an email when they filled in that form.
Number 1 and 4 have told me they’ve checked their spam but there’s nothing. Can you recommend anything else. I also know that there were at least a couple who tried to subscribe and received nothing, they then tried again and it worked.
Thanks for your help -

For the one using Gmail, tell them to also check the Social and Updates folders. Gmail often routes our emails there instead of to the inbox.
For the Hotmail one I’m afraid I don’t have any suggestions, though. If it’s not in their inbox and not in their spam, it means Hotmail blocked it somewhere between they receiving it and it making it to the inbox, so they’ll need to contact Hotmail support for help with that.
