subscriptions

You seem to have a definition of the word “subscription.” The definition is not wrong but it does not do what I want to do. I want a bifurcated site that has a free side and a pay (subscription based) side that offers different, longer articles to subscribers.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Here are a couple ways you might set up a site like that at WordPress.com:
1. You can set up two separate sites, one that is public and offers free content and one that is private. You can offer subscribers access to the private site by inviting them as viewers on that site. As the blog owner, you would have full control over which users can access that private site.
2. You can set up one site, and publish some content publicly and other content that is password-protected. You can then give out the password to the password-protected content to your subscribers.
If you’re interested in setting up a subscription-based site with content behind a pay wall (and not one of the above solutions), I’d recommend using a self-hosted WordPress site. That will give you more control over how the site is set up. You can read more about the difference between WordPress.com and self-hosted sites using the WordPress.org software here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
