Hi, I have a Shopify site thejadeleaf.com. That domain name is hosted through WordPress. Shopify is showing and error message:
Your domain’s CNAME record doesn’t point to Shopify: Open your domain provider’s DNS settings for http://www.thejadeleaf.com and set its CNAME record to shops.myshopify.com.
Your domain has a wildcard record pointing to Shopify: During a routine check, we noticed a wildcard DNS record (looks like *.www.thejadeleaf.com). To follow best practices, please remove it from your http://www.thejadeleaf.com DNS settings and replace it with supported DNS records for any shops hosted under http://www.thejadeleaf.com that you may have. Your shop will continue to function normally with a wildcard DNS record, however this message will remain until your DNS has been corrected.
Could you please help me figure out how to make these changes? When I go to my WordPress account, it appears that I’m unauthorised to edit the CNAME myself in the DNS settings.
Thanks for your time!

Hi there!
Thanks for getting in touch. The wildcard CNAME record in your domain ensures that if anyone incorrectly types your domain (like ww instead of www), they are properly redirected to the www version of the domain, which loads your correct site.
We understand Shopify recently started asking their site owners to remove this CNAME record.
As Shopify mentioned, your Shopify site will continue to function even with this wildcard DNS record in place; you may just continue to see the error message in your dashboard.
We’re currently working on a solution to remove the wildcard CNAME record, and I’ve noted your domain and account details to follow up with you when there is one.
I appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Hi asiajib,
Thanks for your reply. I’m also having an issue connecting my Shopify store to my Instagram. I’m currently unable to link products to posts in my feed. I didn’t have any problems in the past. I’m also receiving error messages regarding the domain name. It seemed to arise around the same time as this.
Are you aware of there being an issue here? I went through a support session with someone from Facebook, I realized afterward, they probably don’t know how to solve the issue. Thanks,
Emilio -
Hello Emilio,
Thanks for reaching back out.
I’m also having an issue connecting my Shopify store to my Instagram. I’m currently unable to link products to posts in my feed. I didn’t have any problems in the past. I’m also receiving error messages regarding the domain name. It seemed to arise around the same time as this.
We wouldn’t know about issues regarding that – but looking at the timing, it’s probable the two are related.
That said this is for Shopify to confirm and you would need to reach out to their support for help in solving that.
I hope this helps.
